Perspectives

By Martha Phillips

I have always believed that there are people who do not just occupy a place within an industry: they help us read it better. Their trajectories, their decisions, and the way they look at the world provide us with context on where culture is moving.

That is why Perspectives was born: a section to share profiles worth following not only for what they do, but for the conversation they represent. In this edition, I bring together three distinct viewpoints: luxury understood through experience and judgment; Latin American design as memory and craft; and pop culture as a new form of influence.

It is not just about following accounts. It is about educating the eye, expanding references, and better understanding those who are building narratives through fashion, entertainment, identity, and contemporary culture.

Image, strategy, and the art of building presence

The career of Pepe Guzmán is built not with statements, but with work: campaigns that have circulated with force, runways that demand precision, and editorial productions where the image is not an ornament, but a structure. As a Fashion Stylist, Creative Director, and Marketer, Guzmán has developed a practice that understands the image as a system.

  • Experience: He has worked with international firms such as Yves Saint Laurent and Burberry, as well as global companies like Gatorade and Sony Music.

  • In Mexico: His work has been part of projects for Palacio de Hierro and C&A, where the demand is just as high: building clear imagery in saturated markets.

  • Approach: His presence in campaigns and runways responds to reading rather than accumulation. There is an evident intention in how he articulates each project and translates a brand or personality into something that feels immediate yet deeply considered.

Why Martha believes you should follow him:

Because following Pepe Guzmán is not just about looking at finished looks or projects; it is about entering his process. His content reveals how an image is constructed from idea to execution, how aesthetic decisions are made with intention, and how the pulse of the industry is read from within. There is no unnecessary noise: there is a gaze, a craft, and a clear way of understanding fashion without frills or concessions.

Ricardo Galván

Culture as strategy

Ricardo Galván is a cultural consultant, creative strategist, and specialist in influencer marketing within the entertainment industry. Originally from Tampico, Mexico, he studied marketing and communication in Texas before moving to Los Angeles, where he has developed campaigns connecting studios, global brands, creators, and diverse audiences.

  • Collaborations: He has worked on campaigns linked to Disney, Marvel, Lucasfilm, NBCUniversal, Warner Bros., Paramount, Sony Pictures, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Red Bull, among other key names in entertainment and pop culture.

  • Scope: His work moves between storytelling, cultural representation, digital strategy, and industry moments such as red carpets, junkets, and talent events.

Why I believe you should follow him:

Because Ricardo understands something fundamental: today, culture is not just communicated, it is strategically designed. His perspective connects entertainment, Latino representation, digital creators, and audiences who want to see themselves reflected with authenticity.

Mercedes Salazar

Tradition turned into contemporary luxury

Mercedes Salazar is one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary Latin American design. Her work transforms Colombian craftsmanship into pieces that dialogue with art, history, cultural identity, and conscious luxury. More than an accessory designer, Mercedes builds visual narratives where every object carries memory, territory, and tradition.

  • Ethos: Her brand works closely with artisan communities from different regions of Colombia, preserving traditional techniques and bringing them to international stages with a sophisticated, authentic, and deeply cultural sensibility.

Why I believe you should follow her:

Because Mercedes demonstrates that Latin American luxury does not have to imitate European codes to be sophisticated. Her universe celebrates heritage, craftsmanship, and identity with an aesthetic that is contemporary, joyful, and powerful.

Perspectives is not just a list of profiles to follow for the sake of fashion. It is a curation of viewpoints that are moving the conversation from different places: luxury, entertainment, culture, and Latin American design. Because following someone is also a way to educate the eye.
