FDLA Spotlight

May 29 marks a new chapter for FDLA Spotlight—and I’m honored to welcome you to the launch of our new digital edition, created in the extraordinary setting of Los Cabos.

While FDLA Spotlight’s printed edition already exists, this moment celebrates the expansion of our voice into a digital space—one designed to travel faster, reach farther, and bring our stories to readers around the world in real time. For me, it also feels deeply personal: a reminder that when you build with purpose, your message doesn’t stay in one place—it grows, it moves, and it finds the people who need it.

FDLA Spotlight was born as an editorial extension of Fashion Designers of Latin America—a space designed to document, elevate, and connect the evolving narrative of Latin American fashion. I created FDLA because I believed in the talent I was seeing—designers and creatives with extraordinary vision, often working with limited resources, yet carrying the kind of cultural richness and craftsmanship the world deserves to celebrate.

This platform has always been about more than beautiful imagery (though we celebrate that, too). It’s about point of view. It’s about identity. It’s about the discipline behind the dream, and the stories that deserve to be told with care.

Launching this digital edition from Los Cabos feels symbolic. There is something powerful about creating from a place where the light is bold, the ocean is endless, and the energy invites you to think bigger. This issue reflects that spirit: confidence, transformation, and visibility—not as trends, but as necessities for Latin American talent to be seen, valued, and remembered.

This edition is also a celebration of community—because no editorial vision becomes real without a team that believes in it.

First, I want to acknowledge and thank our Editorial Advisor, José Forteza, whose guidance, curatorial eye, and commitment to excellence continue to elevate the way we tell stories. His perspective helps ensure that every page carries intention.

To all of our contributors—writers, creatives, and collaborators—thank you for lending your voice, your time, and your talent to this platform. FDLA Spotlight is stronger because it is built by many perspectives, united by one mission: to shape a fashion conversation that is culturally rooted and globally relevant.

I’m also proud to officially introduce our new Co-Editor, Diva Lomas. Diva is someone I deeply admire—not only for her hard work and consistency in the industry, but for the integrity and vision she brings to everything she touches. Having her join this journey is a true honor, and I’m excited for what we will build together.

A special thank you to our Digital Cover Model, celebrity influencer Connie Dávalos, for bringing her presence, confidence, and magnetic energy to this edition. Connie embodies the kind of modern influence we believe in—one that is expressive, intentional, and impactful.

And to ME Cabo by Meliá, thank you for your hospitality and for welcoming our team with such generosity while we produced the content for this issue. The experience, the setting, and the support made a real difference—and we are grateful.

As you explore this edition, I invite you to read with curiosity and to look beyond the surface. Every feature is an invitation: to discover a designer, to understand a perspective, to celebrate a culture, to support a creative economy, and to be part of what’s next.

If this issue moves you, I invite you to take action:

  • Read the edition and spend time with the stories.

  • Share it with someone who believes in culture, creativity, and global talent.

  • And if you’re a brand, sponsor, institution, or partner who wants to help expand this mission, partner with us—so we can continue creating visibility, opportunity, and lasting impact for Latin American designers and creatives.

Thank you for being here—for reading, sharing, and helping us expand the visibility Latin American fashion deserves.

With gratitude and purpose,

Albania Rosario
