In an industry where talent is abundant but visionaries with a transformative vocation are scarce, Cristina Cuéllar occupies a category of her own. With 31 years of uninterrupted trajectory, this professional makeup designer, entrepreneur, instructor, and speaker has built an ecosystem that goes far beyond the brush: she has redefined the standards of the profession in Mexico and around the world.
Her story began at 17 with a self-makeup course that ignited a passion that would never cease. Today, that journey has a name of its own: Grupo Cristina Cuéllar, a conglomerate of companies spanning professional makeup and hair services, business training for entrepreneurs, a multi-brand retail store, and both in-person and online education. The group maintains an international presence, notably in the United States, where she operates an import company and holds a Cosmetology License.
A Career Built on Records
Cristina and her team have provided services to over 55,000 clients over three decades—a figure that speaks to sustained trust and an uncompromising standard of quality. She has participated in major media outlets including Fox, Discovery Home & Health, HBO, Televisa, TV Azteca, Radio Fórmula, and MVS, and has served as National Image Director for the Miss Mexico pageant since 2016.
The Woman Who Takes Mexico to the Global Runways

What distinguishes Cristina from any other figure in Latin America is her role as Makeup Backstage Director for Global Fashion Collective, the platform that organizes fashion weeks in the world’s most influential capitals: Tokyo, New York, Paris, London, Milan, and Vancouver. From this position, she does not merely represent Mexico on the global stage; she trains and brings Latin American makeup artists with her, allowing them to gain firsthand experience through her Fashion Training program, turning each edition into an international launchpad for emerging talent. This is complemented by her collaboration with MAC Cosmetics at Fashion Week Mexico.
As of the date of this publication, there is no other makeup artist and entrepreneur in Latin America who combines directing makeup backstage at the world's six major Fashion Weeks, founding her own brand, establishing a national competence standard, and operating a transnational group of companies.
The Creator of the Standard That Dignified a Profession
Perhaps her most powerful legacy is institutional: in 2016, working alongside CONOCER and the Secretariat of Public Education (SEP), Cristina Cuéllar developed the Competence Standard EC0859 – Professional Makeup Design, the first of its kind in Mexico. This federal standard, created to establish clear criteria for evaluating professional makeup work, celebrates its tenth anniversary this year and has become the official benchmark for the entire industry in the country.
As a natural consequence, she founded her own Assessment Center, accredited by CONOCER in standards EC0859 and EC0217.01, where she certifies professional makeup artists with official validity recognized by the SEP. Through her Instituto Cristina Cuéllar, she features specialists certified by the SEP and CONOCER as Professional Makeup Designers, trained to the highest standards of customer service and technical mastery.
Entrepreneur, Educator, and Benchmark
Her media presence includes collaborations with major television and radio networks, and she has delivered seminars on image, communication, and entrepreneurship at institutions such as Grupo Alsea, Universidad Iberoamericana, Tec de Monterrey, Universidad La Salle, Universidad ISEC, and Mexicana de Aviación. Additionally, she has trained sales and makeup teams for Sephora, Benefit, GOC, Pink Up, Temptu, and Anastasia Beverly Hills, among others.
Cristina does more than apply makeup: she trains, certifies, regulates, exports talent, and builds industry. In a sector historically characterized by informality, she chose the most difficult and necessary path: the path of organization, professionalization, and elevation. The result is a career without parallel in Latin America.
